The Marcy QM31 is a 31mm flexible universal exterior replacement molding — the widest option in the Quantum line — sold as a 50ft roll. Designed for specialty applications with extra-wide glass channels, it provides a clean, weather-resistant finish along the exterior glass edge. The shorter roll length reflects the reduced linear footage needed for wide-channel work.

Width Selection Guide

Measure the gap between the glass edge and the surrounding trim or channel. At 31mm, QM31 is the widest Quantum option and is reserved for applications where the exterior channel genuinely requires that coverage. If your gap measures closer to 1", the QM25 is likely the better fit. Confirm your measurement before ordering — at this width, a mis-sized molding won't seat correctly.

What is Quantum Molding?

Quantum Molding is a flexible exterior universal replacement molding designed to fit a wide range of glass openings without requiring a vehicle-specific part. It installs along the exterior glass edge and provides a clean, weather-resistant finish. It's commonly used when OEM molding is damaged, missing, or no longer available as a direct replacement.

Why does QM31 come in a 50ft roll instead of 75ft?

At 31mm wide, this is the largest molding in the Quantum line. Wider molding is typically used in specialty applications where less total linear footage is needed per job. A 50ft roll is still enough for 3 to 4 full installs and keeps the price proportionate to what you're actually using.

How do I select the right width?

Measure the gap between the glass edge and the surrounding trim or pinchweld. At wider dimensions, accuracy matters most — too narrow leaves a gap; too wide and the molding won't seat cleanly. If you're choosing between QM25 and QM31, measure carefully. Even a few millimeters makes a meaningful difference at this width.

How is this installed?

Press the molding into place along the glass edge, typically after the glass has been set. Work around the perimeter section by section, pressing firmly into the channel. For tight curves, a brief pass with a heat gun on low makes the molding more pliable. A molding tool or wide flathead helps seat it evenly without scuffing the surrounding trim.

How much molding does one job use?

For large glass applications requiring 31mm molding, expect to use 12 to 18 feet per job depending on the glass perimeter. A 50ft roll covers roughly 3 to 4 full installs at this width.
