Width Selection Guide

Measure the gap between the glass edge and the pinchweld. Solid compound does not compress significantly, so select a width that closely matches your measured gap. At 10mm, PUGM7 is one of the larger solid options and is suited for vehicles where the pinchweld gap runs wider than standard — confirm your measurement before ordering.

What's the difference between solid and sponge underglass molding?

Solid compound holds its shape under the glass — it doesn't compress or deform during installation. This gives you a stable, uniform support surface and is ideal for consistent gaps where you want predictable placement. Sponge is better for irregular or tight gaps where some flex is needed. For clean, consistent pinchwelds with a known gap width, solid is the more precise choice.

How do I choose the right width?

Measure the gap between the glass edge and the pinchweld. For solid molding, select a width that matches or is within 0.5mm of your gap — solid compound doesn't compress, so a loose fit won't seal properly. If your measurement puts you between sizes, go slightly smaller; the adhesive bead handles the rest of the seal.

How much molding does one job use?

A standard windshield typically uses 6 to 9 feet of underglass molding. A 75ft roll covers approximately 8 to 12 installs — well-suited for shop stock or ongoing jobs.

Can this be used on rear or side glass?

Yes. Solid underglass molding works for any opening with a consistent pinchweld gap — front windshields, rear windows, and quarter glass. Confirm the exact gap width before ordering to make sure 10mm solid is the right fit for your application.

Does this molding need adhesive?

No separate adhesive is needed for the molding itself. The glass weight and urethane adhesive bead hold everything in place. Position the molding along the pinchweld before glass set, and the installation process secures it.
