Precision 5mm foam underside glass molding — EPDM sponge rubber that stays flexible in cold without shrinking in heat. The narrow 5mm profile suits vehicles with shallower glass channels. Pre-applied adhesive tape bonds directly to the glass edge. Sold per 100-foot roll for higher-volume shop use.

Specifications

  • Width: 5mm
  • Length: 100ft per roll
  • Style: Underside (USM) — foam/sponge
  • Material: EPDM sponge rubber
  • Tape Backing: Pre-applied adhesive tape
  • Part Number: PRP05100USMF

Application

Universal fit — suited for vehicles with shallow glass channels. Verify channel measurement before ordering. Also available in a 75-foot roll (PRM05USMF) for lower-volume or single-vehicle use.

What does underside glass molding do?

Underside glass molding seats between the bottom edge of the glass and the vehicle's pinch weld or channel. It creates a consistent seal, cushions the glass against the body, and prevents direct metal-to-glass contact. Correct width selection is critical — too wide raises the glass; too narrow and it sits unevenly.

How do I know if 5mm is the right width?

Measure the depth of the glass channel or pinch weld. A 5mm profile is best for shallow channels found on many compact cars and imports. If the channel is significantly deeper, use a wider profile (7mm, 8mm, 9mm, or 10mm).

What is the difference between EPDM sponge and solid compound molding?

EPDM sponge compresses under pressure — ideal for tighter channels or vehicles with slight dimensional variation and easier to work around curves. Solid compound holds its shape without compression — best when the channel closely matches the molding width and a rigid, stable profile is preferred. Both bond to glass via pre-applied tape.

How much molding do I need per installation?

Most passenger vehicle windshields require 12–16 feet of underside molding. A 100-foot roll covers approximately 6–8 complete installations — the right stock quantity for shops doing steady windshield volume. The 75-foot roll (PRM05USMF) is available for lighter-use situations.

Is this compatible with both OEM and aftermarket glass?

Yes — cut to length on-site, this molding works with OEM and aftermarket replacement glass alike. Verify the channel dimension on the specific glass being installed, as aftermarket profiles can vary slightly from OEM.
