Marcy Solid-Core Butyl Tape — 3/8" × 15ft | Bulk Pack | ME915S
✅ In Stock
Marcy ME915S solid-core butyl tape in a 15-foot bulk roll — the 3/8" round profile for shops doing high-volume work on larger vehicle channels and commercial applications requiring a heavy butyl bead. Same all-weather solid butyl formula as the individually boxed ME925, in a longer roll at a lower cost per foot. The widest standard solid butyl profile, filling gaps that smaller diameters can't seal completely. Made in the USA. Not intended for windshield installation — use foam-core butyl (ME612C or ME810B) for windshield applications.
Specifications
- Part Number: ME915S
- Size: 3/8" (9.5mm) round × 15ft
- Core Type: Solid-core
- Format: Bulk roll
- Made in: USA
- Application: Mechanically-fastened glass with wide channels, commercial vehicle sealing
Application
Apply along the glass channel or frame opening before pressing the glass into position. Cut to length as needed. The 3/8" profile fills large channel gaps on full-size trucks, vans, and commercial vehicles where smaller diameters would leave voids. Do not use for urethane windshield installations.
What is solid-core butyl used for?
Solid-core butyl seals mechanically-fastened glass — side windows, vent glass, sliding rear windows, and quarter glass where fasteners hold position. Also used for general automotive body sealing. It is not the correct product for urethane-bonded windshield installation — use foam-core butyl for those applications.
What is the difference between the bulk ME915S and the boxed ME925?
Both contain the same 3/8" solid-core butyl formula. ME925 is individually boxed in a pre-cut 10-foot single-application length — ideal for mobile installers. ME915S is a 15-foot bulk roll at a lower cost per foot — better suited to shops doing high-volume work where material efficiency is the priority.
When should I use 3/8" instead of 1/4" or 5/16"?
The 3/8" profile (ME915S/ME925) is used when the channel gap is large enough that smaller diameters don't fill it completely. Most common on larger trucks, full-size vans, and commercial vehicles with wide glass channels. When in doubt, verify the channel width with the glass in the seated position — the butyl should compress to fill the gap without excessive resistance.
Does solid butyl work in both hot and cold weather?
Yes. Marcy solid butyl is formulated for all-weather use. Warm slightly in cold conditions for better conformability. In hot weather, handle carefully to avoid stretching the bead during placement.
What is the difference between solid-core and foam-core butyl?
Solid-core is an all-butyl bead suited for mechanically-fastened glass and general sealing. Foam-core has a foam center that rebounds to fill settling voids — required for urethane windshield installation. Do not substitute one for the other in windshield applications.
