Nylon absorbs vibration and road noise between the glass channel and the window regulator, reducing rattles. It also eliminates metal-to-glass contact that could cause chipping or cracking in the glass edge. The nylon body is a deliberate design choice for door glass fastening — not a cost-cutting measure.

The steel insert provides a durable, high-strength threaded attachment point for the regulator stud. Nylon alone would strip under the torque required to secure a glass channel; the steel insert handles the clamping force while the nylon body provides vibration isolation and glass protection.

Lower the window glass to access the regulator. Remove the door panel and vapor barrier to access the regulator mechanism. Thread the fastener onto the regulator stud through the glass channel bracket, and tighten to secure the glass. Reinstall the vapor barrier and door panel, then test window operation through the full travel range.

This fastener uses an M6-1.0 threaded insert. Verify your window regulator stud is M6-1.0 thread before ordering. This is the most common metric thread used on window regulator studs across domestic and import vehicles, but some applications use different sizes.
