Long 1/4" diameter window regulator rivet for GM, Ford, and Chrysler vehicles. This aluminum-body, steel-mandrel rivet handles the thicker panel stack found in window regulator mounting locations where a long grip range (33/64"–19/32") is required. Shares the same 1/4" diameter and 1/2" flange as the short version, but is sized for deeper panel assemblies.

What is the difference between the short (16837) and long (16838) window regulator rivet?

The short rivet (16837) has a grip range of 1/32"–9/64", designed for thin regulator bracket stacks. The long rivet (16838) has a grip range of 33/64"–19/32", designed for thicker panel assemblies. Both share the same 1/4" diameter and 1/2" flange. Measure your total panel thickness to select the correct version.

Why does the long rivet have such a specific grip range?

Window regulator bracket mounting depths vary by vehicle model and door configuration. The long rivet's 33/64"–19/32" grip range targets the deeper stack assemblies found in some GM, Ford, and Chrysler doors. Using a rivet outside its grip range results in an under-set or over-set condition that weakens the joint.

How do I replace a window regulator rivet?

Drill out the old rivet using a drill bit sized to the rivet diameter (1/4" / 6.4mm). Clean the hole of any burrs, align the regulator bracket, and install the new rivet using a standard rivet gun. The mandrel will pop when the rivet is fully set.

Can I use this rivet for non-window-regulator applications?

The 1/4" diameter and large 1/2" flange make this rivet suitable for other heavy-duty body panel fastening where panel stack thickness falls in the 33/64"–19/32" range. Verify hole diameter and grip range match your application before ordering.

What pack sizes are available?

Available in packs of 50, 100, 200, and 300 to cover single-window repairs or bulk shop supply needs.
