Zinc-plated #8 × 3/4" Phillips pan head Teks screw with #2 drill point for self-drilling into sheet metal without a pilot hole. The longer 3/4" length provides deeper thread engagement than the 1/2" version (9605), making it suitable for thicker panel stacks, multiple-layer assemblies, or applications requiring greater holding strength. Used for attaching trim, brackets, and hardware in automotive and general assembly applications.

What is a Teks screw and how is it different from a standard sheet metal screw?

Teks (self-drilling) screws have a drill bit-shaped point that bores its own hole through sheet metal before the threads engage — no pre-drilled pilot hole required. Standard sheet metal screws require a pilot hole. Teks screws speed up installation in light-gauge steel trim and bracket applications.

What is the difference between 9606 (3/4" length) and 9605 (1/2" length)?

Both are #8 Phillips pan head Teks screws with #2 drill points. The 9606 at 3/4" provides more thread engagement depth for thicker materials, multiple-layer panel stacks, or higher holding-strength requirements. The 9605 at 1/2" is suited for thin single-layer panels or applications where minimal protrusion is needed.

What steel thickness can a #2 drill point penetrate?

A #2 drill point Teks screw is designed for light-gauge sheet metal up to approximately 14–16 gauge (1.6–2mm thick). For heavier gauge steel, a #3 or #4 drill point Teks screw is required.

Can I use Teks screws in plastic panels?

Teks screws are designed for sheet metal self-drilling and should not be used to drill into plastic — the hardened drill point is not suited for plastic materials and can crack or split the panel. For plastic panels, use standard sheet metal screws with pre-drilled pilot holes sized appropriately for the plastic wall thickness.

What pack sizes are available?

Available in packs of 100, 200, 300, and 400 to suit individual repairs or shop stock needs.
