Precision Universal 5mm Foam Underside Glass Molding w/ Tape | 75ft Roll | PRM05USMF
✓ In stock — ships within 1 business day
Precision 5mm foam underside glass molding — high-quality EPDM sponge rubber that stays flexible in cold temperatures without shrinking in heat. The narrow 5mm profile is designed for vehicles with shallower glass channels, providing a proper seal without overfilling the channel or causing the glass to sit too high. Pre-applied adhesive tape for direct bonding to the glass. Sold per 75-foot roll.

Application
Universal fit — suited for vehicles with shallow glass channels where a narrower underside profile is required. Verify channel measurement before ordering. Also available in a 100-foot roll (PRP05100USMF) for higher-volume shop use.
What does underside glass molding do?
Underside glass molding seats between the bottom edge of the glass and the vehicle's pinch weld or channel. It provides a consistent seal, cushions the glass against the body, and prevents direct metal-to-glass contact. Correct width selection is critical — molding that's too wide raises the glass above the channel; too narrow and the glass sits unevenly.
How do I know if 5mm is the right width?
Measure the depth of the glass channel or pinch weld on the vehicle. A 5mm profile is appropriate for vehicles with shallower channels — typically compact cars and certain imports. If the channel is 5mm or slightly less, this molding will compress slightly for a firm, sealed fit. If the channel is significantly deeper than 5mm, use a wider profile (7mm, 8mm, 9mm, or 10mm).
What is the difference between EPDM sponge and solid compound molding?
EPDM sponge (this product) compresses under pressure, making it forgiving in channels with slight dimensional variation and easier to work around curves. Solid compound is firmer and dimensionally stable — better when the channel measurement closely matches the molding width and minimal compression is preferred. Both bond to the glass via pre-applied tape.
How much molding do I need per installation?
A typical passenger vehicle windshield requires 12–16 feet of underside molding. A 75-foot roll covers 4–6 complete installations. For shops doing higher windshield volume, the 100-foot version (PRP05100USMF) offers the same material in a longer roll.
Is this compatible with both OEM and aftermarket glass?
Yes — this molding is cut to length on-site and works with both OEM and aftermarket glass. Verify the channel dimension on the specific glass being installed before cutting, as aftermarket profiles can vary from OEM.
