Precision 8mm universal underside glass molding, made from a custom compound engineered to hold its profile across a wide temperature range — stays flexible in cold, doesn't shrink in heat. Pre-applied adhesive tape bonds directly to the glass, eliminating the need for separate adhesive during installation. Sold per 100-foot roll.

Application
Universal fit — width selection is based on the glass channel or pinch weld dimension of the vehicle being serviced. Verify channel measurement before ordering. Designed for both OEM and aftermarket glass installations.
What does underside glass molding do?
Underside glass molding seats between the bottom edge of the glass and the vehicle's pinch weld or channel. It provides a consistent seal, prevents the glass from making direct metal contact with the body, and cushions the glass during and after installation. It also helps exterior moulding sit flush and even around the glass opening.
How do I select the right width?
Measure the depth of the glass channel or pinch weld on the vehicle. The molding width should match or slightly exceed that dimension to ensure proper compression and seal. This 8mm profile suits vehicles with medium-depth channels. When in doubt between two sizes, err toward the slightly wider option for a better seal.
What is the difference between solid compound and foam/sponge molding?
Solid compound molding (this product) provides a firm, consistent profile with minimal compression — best when the channel dimension closely matches the molding width and a rigid fit is needed. Foam or sponge molding compresses more, making it better for tighter tolerances or vehicles with uneven channels. Both styles use pre-applied tape for bonding to the glass.
How much molding do I need per installation?
A typical passenger vehicle windshield requires approximately 12–16 feet of underside molding depending on the size and shape of the glass. A 100-foot roll covers roughly 6–8 complete windshield installations — a practical shop supply quantity. For occasional single-vehicle use, the 75-foot rolls in our foam series may be more economical.
Is this compatible with both OEM and aftermarket glass?
Yes — Precision universal underside molding works with both OEM and aftermarket replacement glass. Because it is cut to length on-site, it accommodates virtually any glass profile. Always verify the channel dimension on the specific glass being installed, as aftermarket profiles can vary slightly from OEM.
