Universal nylon windshield setting block for a wide range of vehicle windshield replacement applications. Positioned along the pinchweld before the glass is set into urethane adhesive, this block supports the windshield at the correct height and prevents sinking or shifting while the adhesive cures. The 7/16" height accommodates the most common pinchweld-to-glass stack dimensions found across domestic and import vehicles.

What is a windshield setting block and where does it go?

A setting block is a small nylon spacer placed on the pinchweld (the metal flange surrounding the windshield opening) before the glass is lowered into the fresh urethane bead. It supports the glass at the correct height above the pinchweld, preventing the windshield from sinking too low into the adhesive before it sets. Typically placed at the bottom and sides of the opening at OEM-specified positions.

What is the difference between 19817 (nylon) and 19818 (rubber) setting blocks?

Both are universal setting blocks. The 19817 nylon version is rigid and provides a precise, consistent height under the glass. The 19818 rubber version is slightly compressible and can conform to minor pinchweld surface irregularities. Nylon blocks are more commonly used as primary setting blocks; rubber blocks are often used where a slightly more forgiving base is preferred.

How many setting blocks do I need for a windshield replacement?

Most windshield installations require 2–4 setting blocks placed along the bottom of the pinchweld opening, with additional blocks at the sides if specified by the vehicle manufacturer. Check the OEM installation guide or your adhesive manufacturer's recommendation for the exact number and placement for your vehicle.

Do I leave setting blocks in place after the urethane cures?

Yes. Setting blocks remain permanently in place — they are encapsulated in the cured urethane and continue supporting the glass throughout the vehicle's life. Do not remove them after installation.

What pack sizes are available?

Available in packs of 25, 50, 100, and 150 to suit individual windshield jobs or shop supply needs.
