Marcy Molding Retention Tape — 1.5" × 108ft | Blue | ME0076
✅ In Stock
Marcy ME0076 molding retention tape in blue holds exterior mouldings firmly in position while urethane cures, then peels away cleanly without lifting paint or leaving adhesive residue. The 1.5" width covers most exterior moulding profiles in one strip. Blue gives technicians a clear visual reference to confirm full moulding coverage before the vehicle leaves the bay — easy to see on any paint color. Printed "REMOVE WITHIN 24 HOURS" along the length to prevent customer comebacks from delayed removal. Perforated every foot for easy hand-tearing without scissors.

How long should I leave the retention tape on?
Remove within 24 hours — this reminder is printed directly on the tape to prevent customer callbacks. Leaving it longer increases adhesive bond strength, especially in heat and direct sun, and can make clean removal difficult or cause paint damage. In hot conditions, err toward earlier removal.
Will this tape pull paint or leave residue?
Marcy retention tape is formulated specifically for automotive exterior painted surfaces and is designed to release cleanly when removed within the 24-hour window. It works on factory paint, clear coat, and most films and wraps. Adhesive bond strength increases with heat and time, so prompt removal is the key to residue-free release.
What's the difference between clear, blue, and orange?
Clear (ME0073), blue (ME0076), and orange (ME0072) all perform identically — the difference is visual only. Blue is the most popular shop color — visible against most paint finishes, making it easy to confirm coverage and find tape edges when removing. Clear is preferred when the vehicle may be seen by the customer before removal. Orange gives the highest visibility contrast on lighter vehicles.
How much tape does a typical moulding job use?
A typical windshield moulding installation uses 8–14 feet depending on glass size and moulding run length. At 108 feet per roll, one roll covers approximately 8–12 complete windshield jobs. Door panel or quarter moulding strips use 3–6 feet per panel.
Is this tape UV and weather resistant?
Yes. Marcy retention tape is all-weather and UV-resistant, designed to hold through rain, heat, cold, and direct sun during the urethane cure period. Even if the vehicle is driven or sits outside before you return to remove the tape, it maintains adhesion and peels cleanly within the 24-hour window.
