The Marcy QM16 is a 16mm flexible universal exterior replacement molding, sold as a 75ft roll. A versatile mid-width option, it fits a wide range of standard glass openings on sedans, SUVs, and light trucks. Width Selection Guide

Measure the gap between the glass edge and the surrounding trim or channel. At 16mm, QM16 is a common fit for mid-size sedans, crossovers, and SUVs with standard exterior molding channels. If you need the same width with a decorative accent on the outer face, the QM16L Design Line is the same molding with an integrated trim detail.

What is Quantum Molding?

Quantum Molding is a flexible exterior universal replacement molding designed to fit a wide range of glass openings without requiring a vehicle-specific part. It installs along the exterior glass edge and provides a clean, weather-resistant finish. It's commonly used when OEM molding is damaged, missing, or no longer available as a direct replacement.

What's the difference between QM16 and QM16L?

Both are 16mm wide, but QM16L is the Design Line version — it has a decorative accent integrated into the outer face of the molding, giving it a more finished, OEM-style appearance from the exterior. If the molding will be highly visible and the vehicle had a more styled original trim, QM16L is worth considering. For a straightforward replacement with a clean profile, QM16 is the standard choice.

How do I select the right width?

Measure the gap between the glass edge and the surrounding trim or pinchweld. The molding width should match this gap closely. Quantum Molding is flexible enough to handle minor variation, but if you're between sizes, the narrower width typically seats more cleanly than one that's too wide.

How is this installed?

Press the molding into place along the glass edge, typically after the glass has been set. Work around the perimeter section by section, pressing firmly into the channel. For tight curves, a brief pass with a heat gun on low makes the molding more pliable. A molding tool or wide flathead helps seat it evenly without scuffing the surrounding trim.

How much molding does one job use?

A standard windshield perimeter uses approximately 12 to 16 feet of exterior molding. A 75ft roll covers roughly 4 to 6 full installs. For smaller glass like quarter windows or rear sliders, a roll goes significantly further.
