This black nylon windshield setting block is engineered for General Motors vehicles including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer, and Oldsmobile. The self-adhesive backing holds each block securely on the pinchweld during windshield installation, making urethane bonding and glass placement faster and more accurate. At 51mm overall length, this block provides the correct stand-off height to support the windshield glass during urethane cure without requiring removal afterward.

What does a windshield setting block do?

Setting blocks position and support the windshield glass on the pinchweld flange during urethane adhesive installation. They establish the correct glass height and prevent the glass from sinking into the wet urethane before it cures. Unlike traditional rubber shims that were removed after installation, these nylon blocks remain permanently bonded within the cured urethane.

Do these blocks need to be removed after the windshield is installed?

No. These setting blocks are designed to remain in place permanently after the urethane cures. Attempting to remove them after cure could disturb the adhesive seal. Simply position them on the pinchweld before applying urethane and setting the glass.

What is the self-adhesive backing for?

The self-adhesive backing holds each block securely on the pinchweld while you position and set the windshield glass. This prevents the block from shifting or falling during glass placement, which is especially helpful when working without a second technician.

How many setting blocks are needed per windshield installation?

Typically two setting blocks are used per windshield — one positioned near each lower corner of the pinchweld. Some installations call for additional blocks depending on glass size and vehicle design. Consult your vehicle-specific installation procedure for exact placement recommendations.

Are these blocks compatible with all urethane windshield adhesives?

Yes. These nylon setting blocks are chemically compatible with all common automotive urethane windshield adhesives. The nylon material will not react with or degrade standard urethane compounds used in OEM-style windshield installations.
