What is a SEMS screw?

SEMS (pre-assembled screw and washer) screws have a captive washer that is assembled onto the screw shank before threading and cannot be removed. This means the washer is always in place when you pick up the screw, simplifying installation in hard-to-reach areas and eliminating the risk of dropping a loose washer into the engine bay or body cavity.

What is the advantage of a truss head?

The truss head has a wider, lower-profile dome compared to a standard pan head. This spreads clamping load over a larger area, reducing the chance of the screw pulling through or deforming thin sheet metal or plastic panels — a key requirement for cowl and trim panel applications.

Is this screw self-tapping?

Yes. The A/AB point type cuts its own threads into sheet metal, plastic, or existing pilot holes without requiring a pre-tapped hole. It is suitable for thin-gauge steel cowl panels and plastic underhood trim where a pre-threaded fastener point is not provided.

What does black e-coat mean?

E-coat (electrophoretic coating) is an electrochemically applied paint finish that provides corrosion resistance on steel fasteners. The black finish blends with dark-colored cowl and underhood panels and provides better corrosion protection than an uncoated screw in moisture-exposed areas.

What pack sizes are available?

These screws are available in packs of 25, 50, 100, and 150, suitable for a single repair job or stocking a shop supply of this common cowl and trim fastener.
