Precision 7mm foam underside glass molding — EPDM sponge rubber construction that stays flexible in cold and resists shrinking in heat. The 7mm profile is one of the most commonly used widths in windshield installation, fitting a wide range of domestic and import vehicles with mid-depth glass channels. Pre-applied adhesive tape for fast, direct bonding to the glass. Sold per 75-foot roll.

Application

Universal fit — 7mm is one of the most versatile underside profiles and works across a wide range of vehicles. Verify channel measurement before ordering. Also available in a 100-foot roll (PRP07100USMF) for higher-volume shop use.

What does underside glass molding do?

Underside glass molding seats between the bottom edge of the glass and the vehicle's pinch weld or channel. It creates a consistent seal, cushions the glass against the body, and prevents direct metal-to-glass contact. Proper underside molding also helps exterior trim and moulding sit flush around the glass opening after installation.

Why is 7mm such a common width?

7mm strikes a balance between narrow profiles (5mm) suited to compact vehicles and wider profiles (9mm–10mm) needed for trucks and SUVs with deeper channels. Many mid-size domestic and import passenger vehicles — sedans, crossovers, minivans — use a 7mm underside profile, making it the most frequently stocked width for general auto glass shops.

What is the difference between EPDM sponge and solid compound molding?

EPDM sponge (this product) compresses under pressure, which makes it forgiving in channels with slight dimensional variation and easy to work around bends and corners. Solid compound is firmer and holds its shape without compression — better when the channel measurement closely matches the molding width and a rigid profile is preferred. Both bond to the glass via pre-applied tape.

How much molding do I need per installation?

A typical passenger vehicle windshield requires approximately 12–16 feet of underside molding. A 75-foot roll covers 4–6 complete installations. For higher-volume use, the 100-foot version (PRP07100USMF) is also available at the same price per foot.

Is this compatible with both OEM and aftermarket glass?

Yes — this universal molding is cut to length on-site and works with both OEM and aftermarket replacement glass. Aftermarket profiles can vary slightly from OEM, so always verify the channel dimension on the specific glass before cutting.
