Universal Rubber Windshield Setting Block | Flexible Pinchweld Spacer | 19818
✓ In stock
Universal rubber windshield setting block for windshield urethane installation. The rubber construction provides a firm yet slightly compressible base that conforms to minor pinchweld surface irregularities, ensuring consistent glass height even on pinchwelds that are not perfectly flat. Positioned along the pinchweld before the glass is set, preventing the windshield from sinking into the adhesive before it cures.

What is the advantage of a rubber setting block over a nylon one?
Rubber setting blocks are slightly compressible and can conform to minor surface irregularities on the pinchweld — useful when the metal flange is not perfectly flat due to prior damage, repair, or corrosion. Nylon blocks (19817) are rigid and provide a precise, fixed height. For most clean pinchwelds, either material works; rubber is the preferred choice when conformability is needed.
What is a windshield setting block and where is it placed?
A setting block is a spacer placed on the pinchweld (the metal flange surrounding the windshield opening) before the glass is lowered into the urethane bead. It holds the windshield at the correct height above the pinchweld surface, preventing sinking before the adhesive sets. Typically placed at the bottom center and lower corners of the opening.
How many setting blocks do I need for a windshield replacement?
Most installations require 2–4 setting blocks along the bottom pinchweld, with additional blocks at the sides if required by the vehicle manufacturer or adhesive supplier. Refer to the OEM installation guide or your urethane adhesive instructions for specific placement requirements.
Do I remove rubber setting blocks after the urethane cures?
No. Setting blocks — rubber or nylon — are left in place permanently. They become encapsulated in the cured urethane and continue to support the glass throughout the vehicle's life. Attempting to remove them after the adhesive has set risks disturbing the adhesive bond.
What pack sizes are available?
Available in packs of 50, 100, 150, and 200 to suit individual windshield jobs or shop supply needs.
