Why is this retainer blue?
Honda uses color coding on their cowl retainers to help technicians quickly identify clip type during service. Blue indicates the triple-head design with this specific stem geometry. The color has no effect on function β it's purely for identification.
What's a triple-head retainer and how does it work?
A triple-head retainer has three engagement points stacked along the stem. As you press the clip through the panel hole, each head engages a different surface layer, creating a three-point lock. This gives much higher pull-out resistance than a single or double-head clip β ideal for cowl vent panels exposed to wind pressure and vibration.
Does this fit newer Honda Civic or CR-V models?
The 90602-S5A-003 covers Honda Civic through 2011 and CR-V through 2006. Newer generations use different cowl panel designs with different retainers. For 2012+ Civic or 2007+ CR-V, check our other Honda cowl retainer listings or cross-reference the OEM part number for your specific year.
How many retainers does one Honda or Acura need?
Honda and Acura cowl vent panels typically use 8β14 of these retainers. We sell in packs of 15, 30, 60, and 90 pieces for shop stock or individual vehicle service.
When should I replace these?
Replace them any time the cowl vent grille is removed β most commonly during windshield replacement. Nylon retainers become brittle after years of UV and heat exposure. On vehicles over 10 years old, plan to replace the full set rather than just the ones that broke during removal.
